Who we are

Paul Donald, Founder and President

Before founding Branch in 2005, Paul spent 12 years in the graphic design and magazine publishing industries. Living and working in New York and then San Francisco, he has helped craft the look and feel for such magazines as Spy, Wired, The Industry Standard and Sunset. He has been a staff designer for Alexander Isley Design; his freelance clients included Chronicle Books and the Long Now Foundation, among others.

Despite his big-city experience, Paul is a Midwesterner at heart – he grew up in small-town Iowa, and his deep appreciation for nature is a result of the many summers he spent working in area cornfields.

Outside of Branch, Paul is proud to serve as a board member for Project H Design, a nonprofit organization that uses the power of design and hands-on building to catalyze communities and public education from within. Paul lives in San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District with his wife and young daughter.

Alison Lambert, Front Office Guru

Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, Alison has found a second home in the wonderful city of San Francisco. The Bay Area’s wealth of pristine nature and sustainable agriculture, coupled with Alison’s lifelong concern for the environment and marketing background inspired her to pursue a career that would help others make healthy decisions for themselves and their communities.

Alison recently spent a summer working on farms in Minnesota and Utah ranging from cattle and dairy to small-acre, learning – literally – about food systems and policy from the ground up. She continues to volunteer in food activism and has an ever-growing list of restaurant recommendations.

Kim Hosty, Intern, Collaborator, Minion Extraordinaire

Kim is an energetic and imaginative multi-medium graphic designer residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is especially interested in advertising, package design, brand identity, and user experience. Kim takes joy in forging creative solutions and then bringing them to life. She is a recent graduate from the University of San Francisco’s Design program, and is excited to join the world of Branch.

As an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, she has a strong interest in and appreciation for science and innovation. She admires the past while dreaming of the future. Kim also applauds the timely use of wit and whim in daily life.
