We're pleased to introduce Mavis the Monkey, who comes to you all the way from India. (She is a fair-trade product brought to life by craftswomen in Gujarat.)
Mavis Monkey is actually a she but everyone thinks she is a he. But that’s ok because Mavis is incredibly sporty and often beats all the boys at tree-swinging, basketball and tennis all because of her beautiful long athletic arms. Her lovely white lily-pad hands also are useful when it comes to playing tennis or bouncing the basketball.
Her favorite pastime is swinging very high up in the trees. She often sings while she swings, so you can hear Mavis coming from a long way away. Her favorite songs are always happy songs, but at night she likes to sing lullabies as she falls asleep, to have sweet dreams.
Mavis is exceptionally good at giving hugs. Her long arms and legs make her hugs extra special as she can hug twice as much! She particularly likes hugging little children as she fits snugly around their neck and she can whisper secrets into their ears.
Mavis is a big fan of tickling people, so just be careful, because when you aren’t looking, she might just creep up and tickle you until you can’t laugh anymore.
Mavis loves bedtime stories, so always make sure you include her in bedtime reading or else she will become most upset. And you don’t want to have Mavis upset, or else those long arms and legs will turn into a very fast windmill and she might just take off and fly away like a rocket!
Mavis was first dreamt up by a little boy or girl, just like you, but on the other side of the world in a little village in India.
